I found this adorable Valentine's Day t-shirt idea from a magazine. I thought this would be a great project for the girls to do with me. We taped a paper heart doilie to a t-shirt and sponge painted through the design. Turned out super cute and I decided to personalize the shirts by ironing on their names. The girls were so excited to put their shirts on this morning!!!!

Over the weekend we met up with some good friends and took all our kids to this farm for some fall festivities. We did a corn maze (and yes we got lost...but Kerry got us out!), animals, hayride, corn popper and play ground including a corn box (not sand box but corn box). We had an awesome time and the kids loved it. The weather was just perfect for the first weekend of October!

Labor Day Weekend Fun!

Started off our Labor Day weekend by going to the beach! This was the first time for Matthew and the girls haven't been since they were 1. We all had so much fun! Abby and Chloe cried when we left. They wanted to stay longer but Matthew was exhausted.

Matthew's been crazy about the wooden rocking horses that his Grandpa handmade. Every chance he gets he crawls over to them and plays with them. A few night ago he made his way onto one and the rocking just came naturally.

11 Months Old & Almost Walking

Maybe it's because he's the youngest or maybe it's just because the girls were a bit behind him, but I'm just not ready for my little man to be cruising all around my house. Alas I have nothing to do with his progress and whether I like it or not this little man will be 1 in less than a month and may be walking for his birthday. Its funny how we feel so different with our children. I remember we couldn't wait for the girls to walk. So excited!!! Don't get me wrong I am excited but its definitely different! He is already a handful and a world of a difference from my then so shy girls.

Matthew loves eating. He gets very jealous if you have food and he does not. I've started introducing finger food in the last few weeks. He has tried baby mum mums, puffs, bananas and now avocados. Here is a video I took yesterday of the kids at lunch!

We started off our Easter Week by decorating a few eggs with our neighbor. The girls had so much fun watching the eggs turning colors and then decorating with lots of stickers. We plan on doing another dozen this weekend!

I'm Back!

Its been a few months since I last blogged and I am hoping to get back to blogging on a regular basis. So much has happened in the past few months. The girls are full speed ahead at potty training. Abby picked up on it real quick and only wears diapers for nap and nighttime. Chloe fought me on it but I told her no more diapers this past Monday and now I'm proud to say she is only wearing diapers in her bed as well. Can't wait to only have one in diapers! Matthew is growing so much so fast. He is eating finger foods now (beginner one like puffs and small banana pieces) and starting to get on the move. He started sort of army crawling this week and he really is getting fast at it. His big sisters are already getting annoyed that he is stealing their toys and "No Matthew that is my toy" is becoming a common sentence in our house.

As we started decorating the house this year it became clear just hiw much bigger the girls have grown since last year. They are all about the decorations and lights. We've gone Christmas light looking probably 5 times already and all we hear is "I want to see more lights Daddy". The girls loved decorting the tree. If only I could convince them that the ornaments are meant to saty on the tree so Mommy doesn't have to redecorate it every day.

Although we talked about Santa Claus all week long, the girls were still not thrilled with the idea of sitting on this strange man's lap. Abby and Chloe have really started getting into imagination play and I just love watching them think, explore and have fun. With the addition of Matthew the girls have really gotten into playing with their baby dolls. They copy everything I do with him including changing diapers, feeding, burping and now playing. I am so happy they have each other when I cannot give them one on one time:)

Growing So Fast Already...

It's hard to believe Matthew will be 6 weeks old this week. He is already growing so fast. He looks different from the pictures on his birth announcements, he is awake more and he started smiling at us about 4 days ago. I am proud to say he smiled at his Momma first. This is huge to me because the girls smiled at Joe first. He smiled so big at me this morning at 4am that I didn't even care what time it was. He enjoys watching his sisters play and is not quite as fussy as when he was a week old(although he definitely still has his moments). Once we get him to sleep at night (usually between 11-12) he is good about sleeping for 3 hours, breastfeeding and then goes right back to sleep, which I certainly appreciate. I found that he loves the sling wrap I bought for the girls which they hated. We walked to our voting precinct last Tuesday and he slept the whole way in the wrap. Looking forward to when he starts to play with some of his toys.

The Nichols' Family is proud to announce the arrival of their newest addition. Matthew Joseph was born on July, 20, 2010 at 1:01pm. He weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing well and adjusting to life at home with his big sisters.

C-Section is Scheduled...

After having my appointment today with my OBGYN, we have scheduled a c-section for tomorrow at 12pm. I was 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. My doctor was not comfortable inducing with this little progress made and a prior c-section. At first I was really bummed and felt like I was giving up on my VBAC attempt, but after some time to think I am now pretty excited to have our baby boy tomorrow. Our doctor is estimating the baby to be close to if not 9 lbs. and he felt my body was at its limit for a baby this size. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow!

36 Weeks!

I am very blessed to say this pregnancy has gone very smoothly with no complications. This is my 36 week. I started my weekly OB appointments and yesterday I received a clean bill of health. My blood pressure, iron, measurements and weight gain are all great. Baby is still head down, which for this Mom trying a VBAC is great news. I am hoping to go into labor anytime starting next week where I will be 37 weeks and considered full term!

New Ultrasound Pictures!

Sorry for the delay...we had our 32 week check-up at the OB/GYN on Friday. All went well! We had our final ultrasound and like normal he was very active. He even kicked several times while she was trying to get certain angles for measurements. He approximately weighs 4 lbs. 1 oz. which is in the 46 percentile. Our doctor told us you want the baby to be as close to 50% as possible so he's doing great. I've officially gained 2 more lbs. putting my total gain at 9 lbs. so far.

I think Joe and I are in trouble already with our adorable little divas. They are already in love with shoes, purses and sunglasses. I've been trying to get the girls on video carrying their chick and bunny baskets while talking on their toy cell phones. Its really so cute...they have whole conversations walking around the living room and kitchen. Everytime I get the Flip out they put down their stuff, say "All Done" and run over to me.

Fresh From Our Garden...

On Wednesday I picked our first ripe tomato from our garden. It was a cherry tomato so I let Joe have the very first one (aren't I the best wife ever!). He said it was delicious. Right now growing in our vegetable garden we have tomatoes, green beans and bell peppers. In our herb garden we have dill, spearmint, lemon balm, parsley, rosemary and basil. I thought our basil from last year was dead but it reseeded itself and I've got tons coming up. Can't wait to make basil pesto!

I am still enjoying my beautiful flowers I got on Saturday for my birthday from my Dad and Mom. The lilies have opened up and the arrangement is even prettier today than it was over the weekend.

Joe and I have been busy rearranging furniture in our house to make room for our soon approaching new family addition. The room was our office/ guest room so much of the furniture had to find a new home. We moved the desk, computer, shredder and file cabinet into our living room and the two books shelves found their new home in our bedroom. His room is really starting to come together which is exciting! We are keeping the guest bed in there (just moved location) and added the dresser, rocker and crib (when the girls get new beds). We haven't purchased any baseball themed accessories yet, but have definitely decided we would like to get a little end table/night stand, lamp, fan pulls, and rug. My mother-in-law, Dawn, painted beautiful murals in the girls room, but this time we are thinking about having her paint a couple baseball theme canvases. I like the idea of hanging art for him. We are focusing on the colors being red and blue with a bit of green thrown in the mix too. If you haven't seen our house in a while you should plan a visit. I'm pretty sure I'm done making weekend trips for a while but we'd love to have guests...*Hint Hint, Wink Wink*.

Finally Getting Excited...

I don't know what it was but I just wasn't getting excited about the new baby's room. Joe and I talked about themes and we never could come up with one that we both said, "That's it!" Yesterday while watching some TV I saw a cute nursery done in a sports theme and it just hit me. We should do a baseball room. Joe's favorite sport is baseball and with a few easy touches the room will be so cute. So immediately I got on Google and started searching away. I called Joe to see what he thought and of course he was super excited...no convincing needed. Check out a few of my great finds that could work in the baby's room. I've got tons of ideas floating around my head and I am super excited to get working!

Joe has been under the weather for the past few days. He came home from work on Monday with very itchy skin and developed a swollen upper lip as the evening went on. Come Tuesday morning his hands, feet and upper lip were all swollen and he had red itchy blotches all over his body. He went to the doctor immediately that morning to have them determine it was an allergic reaction to something he ate. They started him on a steroid for five days to help with the reaction. The only thing new he ate on Monday was some boxed raspberry cookies so he is unsure what caused this reaction. He ended up staying home from work on Tuesday because he developed hives the size of quarters and his feet were quite swollen and swore. The girls and I enjoyed having him home but we tried to leave him alone to rest most of the day. Today he was feeling better but still not great and went to work. His feet were better, hands still a bit sore and the hives were coming and going but still very itchy. His bottom lip swelled a bit but nothing extreme. Hopefully the reaction is almost over. I know he is uncomfortable and ready for it to be over.

Some fun facts I just read about week 28 are as follows: baby is opening and closing eyes now, weighs approximately 2 1/2 lbs., can turn head from side to side and the baby could have a full head of hair by now.

Just wanted to let everyone I never heard from my OBGYN this week regarding my glucose tolerance test. In this case no news is great news! They said they would only call if I failed again! It's a real good thing too because I finally broke down and bought the buy one get one free donuts that Publix had. I think Joe got maybe 6 out of both containers. Donuts are a bad bad thing in my house when I am pregnant.

Next week I will be 28 weeks! Hello third trimester nice to meet you again! As I am starting to finally work on my scrapbook of the girls first year, I have also looked back on my first pregnancy. Last time at 28 weeks I was put on bed rest which I remained on until I had the girls at 34 weeks. So happy this pregnancy has gone so smoothly thus far and that I am not high risk. I do however miss the 3 times a week ultrasounds. We've only had two so far and my next and probably last is still 4 weeks away. I have so many things to be thankful for and I know the next 12 weeks will be gone before I know it.

1st Trip to the ER

On Saturday night Joe took Abby on her first trip to the Emergency Room. After a fun day at our friend's house for their daughter's 1st birthday party, Abby took a nasty tumble and hit the corner of her eye on the coffee table. The cut seemed small and her eye appeared to be just fine, but after about an hour we decided she needed to be seen by a doctor. The cut was seeping and we weren't sure if she needed a stitch or two so we figured better safe than sorry. I stayed home with Chloe who by this time was fast asleep in her crib while Joe took Abby to the ER. About two hours later and one worried pacing Mommy, Abby was back home and asleep in her crib. She ended up not needing any stitches but she did need dermabond to hold the cut closed. The doctor said it was a good thing we brought her in and everything with her eye checked out to by fine. Sunday Abby woke up in good spirits with a very mild black eye. She was exhausted from her evening the night before and took a three hour afternoon nap. Mommy and Daddy took an afternoon nap as well.

Today she is still doing great. She only fusses if something touches close to her eye and has just a bit more bruising today than in the pictures. Both girls were a bit cranky come late morning but they are working on some new molars. Chloe officially has 10 teeth and Abby has 7.

Glucose Test Done...

This morning I got up way too early to get down to the lab for my glucose tolerance test. I left the house at 6:30am, which is early for me. One nasty beverage and four sticks later I am happily back home having a relaxing afternoon, while the girls are napping. My arms don't look too bad, they used the small butterfly needles for three out of the four sticks. Now I just wait to hear back from the doctors office next week. They said they would call me only if I have gestational diabetes. So I will enjoy my weekend eating sweets and carbs just in case next week brings bad news. After all tomorrow is Joe's birthday so I should help him enjoy his lemon cake I will be baking for him.

I Failed...Again...

This morning I had my 26 week OB check-up which included the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. Yup...I failed it just like last pregnancy. I will be going later this week to the lab to do the 3 hour glucose tolerance test. Last pregnancy I passed at this stage so I am hopeful my results will be the same. I of course will do whatever is needed to have a healthy pregnancy with the end result of a healthy baby, but I do really love eating sweet treats. The rest of my appointment went well. I am measuring in right at 26 weeks and the baby's heart beat sounded great at 150 beats/minute. I gained 1 lb. from last month so my total weight gain this pregnancy is 1 lb. My doctor seemed pleased with this and said she is not concerned about the weight as long as the baby is growing. And boy is he active! I've been moved to appointments every two weeks and will have my last ultrasound at 32 weeks.

More Chloe Walking...

Chloe starting walking more than just two steps by herself last week. Tonight she was a walking fool. She walked for about 10 minutes before dinner. She hardly wanted to take a break to even have dinner. Then when dinner was finished she resumed walking until bedtime. We knew she was ready a long time ago. I think she has the confidence now to keep it up!

22 Weeks

I had my monthly OB appointment yesterday and all went well. I have officially gained back all the weight I lost at the beginning of my pregnancy but am proud to say I am just now at my starting weight. That means thus far I have gained no weight which is fine with me. We listened to the baby's heart beat(which is always a challenge because he moves so much) and I measured in exactly where I should be at for 22 weeks. Next week I will be 23 weeks which is the beginning of the 6 month. Time is sure flying by this pregnancy.

Abby Kisses

Abby and Chloe have started to get into giving kisses. It really is just the most precious thing. My favorite part besides when I get a kiss is when they kiss each other! In this video I try to get Abby to give Chloe a kiss but instead she kisses the camara. So cute!

Starting the girls off early to be my little helpers. This part is true but Abby and Chloe got the broom and dust pan all by themselves and started copying what they see me do about a million times a day. Soon I'm going to get them their own so they can really help when the baby comes!

Big Girls!

0ur girls are now 18 months old and they are really looking like big girls. The way they smile, the way their hair has grown, the way they talk, or the way they accomplish new things all the time...I'm not sure exactly what it is but they just seem so big to us!

18 Month Check-Up

The girls had their 18 month well check visit this morning and all went well. Chloe weighed in at just over 20 lbs and Abby is almost 22 lbs. Our pediatrician said they looked great as usual! Chloe is getting her 5th tooth in (a top middle) and Abby has about 5 that are all about to come in (3 on top and 2 bottom). They just got one shot today which was nice, we are used to about 4 at a time so this was a nice break for them and us too. We don't have to go back again for 6 months, for their 2 year check.

Today at home, Abby got her first real injury. She's been walking for several weeks now and has been doing great. Now we are working on balance with her shoes on. She was on her way to the tupperware cabinet where Chloe was playing when she lost her balance. She went forward to catch herself with her hands and instead she caught the top of her wooden rocking horse. I didn't think she got more than a bump until I went to pick her up and I saw blood. She has a tiny little cut above her left eye brow. It stopped bleeding right away and she only cried for about two minutes. To be on the side of caution I took her to my neighbor's (who is an RN) to have her checked out. She looked her over and said she was doing just fine. She's doing great now but I do expect a nice bruise.

I'm in my 19 week of pregnancy. The nausea has improved quite a bit, occasionally in the morning I feel just a bit sick. I've started to feel the baby moving, which is always exciting. It was a fluttering feeling last week but this week it feels more like little kicks. The ultrasound tech last week did say he was feisty.

Boy or Girl?

Yesterday I had my 18 week appointment and ultrasound. We found out our little one is going to be a boy. Joe and I are very excited. We both said if we could choose we would choose a boy. Even better, we learned the baby is doing well. He is healthy, active and weighs approximately 7 oz.

Repurpose Your Crib Bumpers!

I was reading one of my favorite magazines last night and I saw a great idea. The idea was to use the crib bumper as a valance for the window. You can do it several different ways. In the magazine she simply took out the stuffing and either removed or taped the bottom tie strings. Another way I saw was to leave the stuffing in and fold the bumper in half (to fit the window size) and use a few simply stitches to keep it straight. I thought this was such a great idea. We registered and received two crib bumpers for our girls. We even had them set up in their cribs before they arrived home from the hospital. Unfortunately I soon took them out before the girls even slept their first night in their cribs. The hospital had ingrained such a fear in my mind about having absolutely nothing in the crib except for the baby that I packed up the bumpers and ended up reselling them. I love this idea of using them as a window valance! This is a functional yet safe way to use the crib bumper in your nursery!

I did some rearranging in our kitchen so the girls would have a cabinet they could play in. They like to get in the pots and pans but those are so loud so I made them a tupperware cabinet. Let the fun begin. This is a video of them playing before breakfast on Saturday morning.

Abby has been doing really awesome with her walking! She is getting good at walking and holding things. Her current favorite is her pumpkin. She carries it around like a purse and loves filling it up with toys. Check out Abby and her pumpkin purse in this video. All I can say is adorable!
